There will never be raid matchmaking. There should not be matchmaking for end game content. Now in game LFG is a very different story and would be extremely useful. Standard matchmaking would be completely broken since the biggest issue is not having a designated party leader who can boot people who are just there to troll. But yeah, if Bungie implements their own version of an LFG site, complete with party leaders and ways for people to designate whether they’re requiring mics or not If they don’t have this in Destiny 2, I’m not even bothering.
I know for some it’s not a big deal, but they’ve had a full game, a full three years, to build a system. If they rely on the community again, I’m done. There’s no need to juggle all these apps on the phone with friend requests and trying to browse all the websites. Then as the content increases, people have less motivation to do the older content, especially when they have to do all the work of adding people and creating posts on external resources.
